Painting the Harvest Table

A$425.00

A One-Day Oil Painting Workshop with Lauren Jones

Spend a day immersed in painting, conversation, and slow Hinterland living inside the Mapleton studio of artist Lauren Jones.

Workshop Details
15 July 2026
9:30am–4:30pm
Pear Tree Gallery, Mapleton
Limited to 10 participants
All materials + banquet lunch included

Inspired by the beauty of seasonal produce, this intimate workshop explores the art of still life painting through Lauren's expressive alla prima approach. Working from thoughtfully arranged harvest-inspired compositions, participants will learn to capture the colour, form, and quiet poetry found in everyday objects.

Throughout the day, Lauren will share her process for simplifying complex subjects, mixing luminous colour, creating strong tonal relationships, and bringing life and movement to a painting through confident brushwork.

Suitable for beginners through to experienced painters, the workshop offers a balance of practical instruction, demonstrations, and individual guidance within a relaxed and encouraging studio environment.

From heirloom tomatoes and citrus to market vegetables and gathered treasures, participants will explore how ordinary subjects can become extraordinary paintings. Through observation, colour, and composition, you'll learn to create work that feels both vibrant and deeply personal.

By the end of the day, each participant will complete a series of studies and a small finished oil painting to take home.

With only ten places available, the workshop is intentionally personal, relaxed, and highly immersive.

The experience includes all artist materials, refreshments, and a shared banquet lunch at Mapleton Public House.

More than simply lunch, the banquet is part of the experience itself. Known for its seasonal, farm-led approach to food and spectacular Hinterland setting, Mapleton Public House celebrates the connection between land, community, and the table. Guests will enjoy a long, leisurely feast showcasing local produce and thoughtful cooking, a perfect complement to a day spent observing, creating, and slowing down.

A day to celebrate colour, seasonality, and the beauty of everyday things.

Held only once or twice each year.
